David's Antique Radio Room

Notes:

Hey, what's this radio doing in a slideshow featuring 1950's plastic and bakelite radios?? Sorry folks, but I couldn't resist including the only wood radio in my collection, a Bendix model 526E. This set was damaged in transit by the Postal Service, and it's presently at a local electronics repair shop waiting to be fixed. Actually, the Bendix has been at the repair shop since I received it in March 2002, but that's another story. Suffice to say that as soon as Matt gets around to putting a new bypass capacitor in the radio, the set should be as good as new. At the far right hand side of the tuning dial, the area marked "police" is where one used to tune to hear the cops (just above 1700 kilocycles). Nowadays you need a trunktracking scanner to listen in on the police, which will set you back about $200.00!
