I paid the huge sum of $10.50 for this radio in an eBay auction, and the original owner's manual and warranty card were included! The owner's manual discusses the purpose of the Civil Defense symbols on the radio's dial: "In the event of a national emergency, when radio stations must leave the air, CIVIL DEFENSE information will be broadcast by the CONELRAD plan. To hear such information, tune your radio to 640 or 1240 kilocycles indicated by the CIVIL DEFENSE symbols on the dial."
