3.ELIGIBILITY |
PROMISING SPORTSPERSONS

3.1 |
Sports disciplines have been prioritised into three categories "Priority", "General" and "Others" keeping in view their inclusion in the Asian/Commonwealth/Olympic Games, popularity as well as the chances of getting medal(s) in various international sports events and graded scale of assistance is being provided to the sports disciplines under the revised guidelines for assisting the National Sports Federations. For the purpose of the present scheme, sports disciplines included in the "Priority" and "General" categories in the scheme under Assistance to National Sports Federations(NSFs) will be considered eligible for assistance, provided that in case there is any change in the aforesaid categorisaton in the said scheme, categorisation for the purpose of the present scheme will stand revised automatically. A list of the sports disciplines as categorised at present is snclosed atAnnexure-I

3.2 |
Assistane under the scheme shall be provided to promising sports persons, who have equaled or excelled the existing national record or is a Gold Medalist of Asian/Commonwealth Games/Afro-Asian Games/Olympic Games/World Championships in the relevant category, that is, Senior/Sub-Junior in different sports disciplines.
For team events, assisstance will be provided based on the objective assesment of performance in the National Champoionships.
The cases will be decided purely based on performances, merit and the chances of getting medal(s) in the international event and the available budget provision. This will be subject to the condition that two sports person can be assisted for each event in the disciplines specified.

3.3 |
The Sports persons eligible for assistance as per provision in Para 3.2 should not be more than 25 years of age, provided that:
- For sports like Shooting, Golf, Billiards & Snooker, Chess and Yachting, the age limit may be relaxed upto 35 years.
- For sports persons winning medals in international events last held, upper age limit may be suitably relaxed.

3.4 |
SUPPORTING PERSONNEL:
Supporting Personnel will be assisted for:
- Undergoing specialised training in a particular sports discilpline(to Coaches),
- Undergoing specialised training, attending seminar/conference of repute and major international sports events ( to Sports Scientists, Observer and supporting personel) and,
- Appearing in qualifying examination organised by international bodies ( to Judo, Umpire, Referee, Jury, Arbitrator etc.)

3.5 |
Assistance will be provided for holdig camps for sports persons and supporting personnel inside the country by inviting coaches/sports scientist(s) of international repute.

3,6 |
For getting assistance under the scheme, the coach should be associated with the training of the national team and/or the promising sports person. Similarly the referee /Judge should have represented India in Olympics/Commonwealth/Asian Games and have 'A' grade certificate issued by the recognised international body.

3.7 |
Assistance to the sports specialists, sports scientists dealing with scientific back-up support to sports persons will be decided based on the relevance of the project/purpose to assisting the promising sports persons.

The applicant should not be more than 45 years in age provided the:
- In the case of coaches dealing with national teams/promising sports persons the age limit may be relaxed by 5 years i.e. upto 50 years.
- There shall be no age bar on assistance to the referee and judge for travel grant.

3.9 |
For undergoing specialised training, the applicant should have confirmed admission from a reputed institution abroad and the course should be useful keeping in view the conditions prevailing in our country.
