GUIDELINES FOR FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE TO STATE/DISTRICT LEVEL SPORTS ASSOCIATIONS APPROVED BY THE GOVERNMENT IN CONSULTATION WITH FINANCE DEPARTMENT.
Objectives In order to promote sports activites, impart coaching and encourage participation in District, State and National level Competitions, the Department of Youth Afairs and Sports, Government of Manipur have been implementing a scheme for grant of financial assistance to State and District Level Sports Associations.
Games & Sports Under this scheme Financial Assistance are given for Olympic, Non-Olympic Sports disciplines and Indigenous Games of Manipur which is categorised as under:-
  • Category-A: All disciplines of World Olympic including Tae-kwondo and women football
  • Category-B: Sepak Takraw, Cricket, Kho-Kho, Kabaddi, Weight Lifting, (women)Body Building, Polo, Chess and Indigenous games(Kang,Polo-pana style, Yubi Lakpi,Mukna, Indigenous Martial Arts(Thang-Ta)
  • Category-C: Softball, Netball, Ball Badminton, Throwball, Arm Wrestling, Sports Acrobatics, Cycling Polo, Strength Lifting, Karate-Do, Yoga, Carrom, Bridge, Veteran Athletics, Baseball and Tennikoit
State Level Sports Associations i) There shall be only one State Level Sports Association for a particular Sports in the State

ii)An existing State Level Sports Association shall continue to be recognised as a State Level Sports Association by the Department only if it has a minimum of five District branches affiliated to the State Sports Association.

Sports Asociation which have alredy been recognised by the Department but do not fulfil the conditions at (ii) above shall continue to be recognised as a State Sports Association for one year from the date of notification of this guideline within which period they shall have to fulfil the said condition failing which the Association shall be de-recognised by the Department.

iii)A newly estblished State Sports Association shall be recognised by the Department after three years of its inception fulfilling the condition prescribed at (ii) above and after its having participated in a minimum of one National Championship organised by the Federation.

iv)Financial Assiatance shall only be given to State Sports Association recognised by the Department.

District level Sports Associations i)There shall be only one District Level Sports Association for a particular Sports in the district.

ii)The existing District Level Sports Association shall continue to be recognised as a district level Sports Association by the Department only if it has branches in all the sub-divisions/blocks in the district affiliated to the District Sports Association.

Provided that this shall not apply in the case of Indigenous games of Manipur.

Provided further, that in the case of existing district sports Associations which have already been recognised by the department but do not fulfil the condition at (ii) above shall continue to be recognised as a district sports association for one year from the date of notification of these guidelines within which period it shall fulfil the said condition failing which the distict sports Assocation shall be de-recognised by the department.

iii) A newly established district sports Association shall be recognised by the department after three years of its inception fulfilling the conditions prescribed at (ii) above and after having participated in a minimum of one State Championship organised by the State Federation.

iv) Financial assistance shall only be given to district sports Association recognised by the Department.
