Chinese New Year Auction FAQs

Q: How do cash donations by parents count toward the competition?

A: Cash donations of $50 or more count towards participation as well as towards the total raised by the class (cash + proceeds of auctioned items).  Your donation will be recognized according to these levels: $50 Red Envelope, $100 Firecracker, $300 Lion Dance, $500 Dragon Dance, $1,000 Year of the Ox, $2,500 Bronze, $5,000 Silver, $10,000 Gold, $20,000 "Presented by".

Q: If parent donors fill out the "Donate Items" form online at cMarket, do they still need to fill out a Parent Donation form?
A: For physical donations you only need to fill out the form online at cMarket, being careful to include the class to count the donation towards for purposes of the competition.  If the parent wishes to contribute cash, please fill out a Parent Donation form.

Q: If businesses make a donation, do they fill out the form online at cMarket or do they fill out the form or both?
A: We prefer online submission without paper forms, being careful to add to the description which class the donation counts towards for purposes of the competition.  If a paper form is printed to be given by parent to businessperson, please remember to fill in the bottom of the form so your class gets credit for contest purposes.

Q: Does the soliciting YCIS parent fill out the parent donation form online at cMarket and the business donation form?
A: We prefer the parent to fill out the form online for donations, being careful to add in the "item description" what class the donation counts towards for purposes of the competition.  The Business Donation form is necessary if a parent wants to advertise in the program.

Q: Can I make a cash donation by Paypal or emailing my credit card information along with the form?

A: Cash donations can be made via the Parent Donation or Business Donation form and checks mailed to YCIS, since we do not have a way to donate online.

Q: Do auction items donated by businesses count towards their level of sponsorship?

A: The level of sponsorship is determined by the sum total of cash donation and FMV in-kind donations needed as event supplies including: Wine, Reception (bar), Children's center and buffet, Invitations, Center pieces, Entertainment, Program, Video for all (party favor), Picture for all (party favor), and Decorations.  Levels are noted in the program as $2,500 Bronze, $5,000 Silver, $10,000 Gold, $20,000 "Presented by".

Q: I've donated greater than $500 worth of auction items and would like my business promoted via the free 1/4 page advertisement, how do I do that?

A: If you donate >$500 of auction items and want the free ad, you need to tell us the name you want using the business donor form, and submit an ad or pay for Silvia Cortes to design it.
