The Beatles...Where to start about this A-Bomb that struck the whole world with their music. The sound and image that changed round the history in modern music.. The four young lads from Liverpool, managed by a very competent record shop manager, Brian Epstein, having been first declined by Decca records (aren't they happy..) were given a chance by George Martin and Parlophone, entered their final line-up (with Ringo Starr replacing Pete Best) and ...voila ! The charts were theirs ! Starting with Love me Do in 1962 in the U.K. and I Want to Hold Your Hand in 1964 in the U.S.A. they went on and on to their glorious success ,which has never since been equalled by others..John Lennon and Paul McCartney were universally recognized as the most potent rock'n'roll era songwriting partnership. Their success also opened the way to the "British Invasion" of the U.S. charts. The Rolling Stones, The Dave Clark 5, Gerry and the Pacemakers, and so many more british groups, now enjoyed a large U.S. audience, and their charts..
From 1962 to their final act in 1969 , the Beatles created one success after another.. From their original sounds in Please Please Me ,and With the Beatles to A Hard Day's Night and HELP! (Both accompanied by Films under the same title!) they then made Rubber Soul clearly inluenced by the music of Chuck Berry and Motown, getting into much more original sound, but without losing their commercial success, and then Revolver their most psychedelic album yet.. That leads them to lengthy experimentation and BANG! comes the greatest album ever : Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band... From this album emerges Magical Mystery Tour an LP (followed by TV Film as well ) clearly influenced by the hallucinogenic drugs they were taking at the time..A flop..
The Fab4 are no longer united as they were..It is 1968,but despite all their arguments they come up with a remarkable double LP, known as The White Album, they create their own company Apple Corps and a great cartoon movie Yellow Submarine.. ..1969.. the end .. They work on their last film project Let it Be while creating the Album under the same name but fight over the film ,and go back to George Martin for their final cut.. Abbey Road a classic, which finds John and Paul fighting endlessly over opposing business interests, and more.. John and wife Yoko Ono form their own group Plastic Ono Band and score with their first single Give Peace a Chance In 1970 the Let it Be Movie is eventually released, causing Paul's outburst and departure.. They each continue their own career...BUT.. the BEATLES no longer live here....
December 8th 1980...John is murdered outside his N.Y. appartment ..... R.I.P. John - and thanks for the music...
