I love movies. Welcome to my short and to the point movie review page. Enjoy...
Here are my top 3 movies you should rent on video:Moulin Rouge
Best movie of 2001! Ewan McGregor is absolutely wonderful. Nicole Kidman is hot... and not a bad singer at all. The movie is an amazing work of art. The story is a little romantically over the top, but it works nevertheless. John Leguezamo is great as a supporting player. The big * * * * stars!!!!
MomentoOne of the most original movies of all time. A dude (Guy Pierce) has a condition in which he cannot create any new memories. This is not very convenient for him because he's trying to track down the man who raped and killed his wife while he was being beaten. In order to have us empathize with the character, the movie runs backwards, scene by scene. Definitely a movie to see again and again.. and you might need to! The acting is superb all around. Carrie Anne Moss and Joe Pantoliano, both from the Matrix, are excellent as well.

Requiem for a Dream
Absolutely awesome! Jared Leto and Jennifer Connelly are great together. And Ellen Burstyn does one of the best performances in movie history. This was also a good cross over for Marlon Wayans into dramatic acting The film is so wonderfully artistic. The director, Darren Aronofsky, who directed and wrote Pi (which I also highly recommend) and is set to direct the upcoming Batman:Year One based on his own screenplay, is truly a visionary ***1/2Click here for more reviews of movies from the summer of 2001

Lord of the Rings: Fellowship of the Ring
Lord of the Rings: Fellowship of the Ring
A masterpiece! Unfortunately it was a masterpiece riddled by technical problems in the theater that I saw it in. I've heard of others who had similar problems in their viewing experience as I. A lot of the dialogue seemed to be whispered or not completely spoken in full voice. When this was the case I found that I would have to really concentrate hard in order to understand what was said. And even then, I was still unsure of what was spoken. The noise the Ringwraiths made was the most annoying thing I have ever heard (even more annoying than Jim Carrey's "most annoying" sound in Dumb and Dumber ). It was so loud and screechy my friend Lon was covering his ears and I kept on thinking, each time I saw the Ringwraiths, "Please don't make that noise!" If I hadn't read the book, I'm afraid I might have been a little lost. But having read the book, the movie did a great job of bringing it to life.. or film rather. Beautiful imagery, characters were well casted. And in all 2 hours 40 minutes, I couldn't find one dull moment.
* * *1/2 stars!Not Another Teen Movie
Ok, I'll admit it. I'm a big sucker for teen movies. I loved Can't Hardly Wait, both American Pie 1 and 2 cracked me up, and I think that Freddie Prince Jr. is a cutie. Um... anyway, this movie actually does a clever job at merging the plots from recent teen movie, and some not so recent, and creating a highly entertaining spoof. The first half of the movie is very funny while the second half is more stupid than funny, but still enjoyable. The acting is below average, which is certainly understandable when you have a movie that is about the gags, not the acting. Not a great movie, but not terrible either. Definitely watchable and lots of hilarious gags. ** Stars
Ocean's 11
I'm a culprit of not seeing the original, so the only thing I have to compare this movie to is Sneakers. The factor that made this movie stand out from sneakers was the fact that although you knew what was going on.. you didn't REALLY know what was going on. If you didn't see it, then what I just said probably won't make too much sense. So let me just tell ya that the screenplay was witty, the ensemble of movie stars worked incredibly well together, and the exciting direction from Steven Soderbergh (who directed the movie that should have won best picture last year, Traffic) was perfect. * * * stars.
Orange County
Jack Black has no fear. He's not the most attractive man in the world, and yet the majority of his scenes in this movie were of him in his tighty whities. And apparently Catherine O'Hara, Gary Marshall, John Lithgow, Chevy Chase, Lily Tomlin, Harold Ramis, and Kevin Kline had no fear either... they all signed on for the ride to play the supporting players to two big movie stars' children- Tom Hanks son Colin Hanks and Sissy Spacek's daughter Schuyler Fisk (what a dumb name). It seemes these people had no fear because the script is solid... very well thought out and put together.. it's nearly flawless. Now while the directing is not at all bad, it's pretty far from flawless. The main problem is that it too often musters in the cliches of recent teen movies, which I like by the way, but it doesn't work here because the material is too intelligent. Hank's acting is average to slightly above average while Fisk's is average to the verge of mediocre. **1/2

The Time Machine
Horrible piece of crap! This movie sucked goat balls. I'm usually pretty good about letting myself go, not analyzing too much, and saying "it's just a movie" But I was constantly being reminded that I was watching a movie with not a hell lot of logic. I loved the original movie; I don't remember it very well so I wasn't doing much of a comparison. I just know as far as movies go, this was awful. 800,000 year old artifacts that are still readable, a primitive hunting species with a highly intelligent leader (Jeremy Irons), a woman (Samantha Mumba) who conveniently is a teacher that speaks fluent English. Yes, folks, this is the stuff that bad movies are made of. I was hoping that this movie would fix the flaws of its similar counterpart Planet of the Apes (Tim Burton's Remake), but no- this movie was far inferior. * 1/2 stars (the 1/2 is for the time traveling effects).

Vanilla Sky
What the @#%!? Don't see this movie if you don't like it when you have no idea what's going on. Don't see this movie if you always expect straight forward plots. And above all, don't see this movie if you don't like having your mind played with. Hee hee... this movie was very cool! I believe after seeing this, every straight man is going to lust after Cameron Diaz and fall in love with P enelope Cruz. Cameron Crowe has done it again! Oh and I really dig his music collection! * * * stars.
