Genjo Sanzo is a monk of the highest order but don't expect him to act like one. He drinks, he smokes, he kills, he gambles, and have manners that is nothing to be desired. In other words, he acts the complete opposite of a Buddhist monk (...more of a threat to society than a help ^^)... He's a DANGEROUS man. A selfish, arrogant, and really moody person and he does not rely on his four companions. I think, he believes in the saying "To each his own..."

Sanzo has a really nasty temper, and he rarely smiles. He really hates to preach or make speeches (totally dreaded it) and rainy days (...never go anywhere near him during these days^^).

No matter how bad his manners are, Sanzo is really charismatic. He has this ability to make really good decision and judgement. He is accutely aware of other people's feelings, but doesn't say so. Sanzo is also a fantastic leader and his prayers can move all his listeners. Just like his master, he uses a sutra to dispose of demons, monsters, etc. He has a red mark on his forehead which means that he is close to the gods.
