Konzen is Sanzo's past life. He is a God and a nephew of Kanzeon Bosatsu, one of the high ranking Gods in heaven.

Konzen has quite a temper. He finds his life "boring" and seems to be scowling most of the time. Although, he is like this, Konzen is quite dedicated/serious with his job (...I'm not sure what exactly is his job...).

Konzen became Goku's guardian or keeper (...rather, quite unwillingly...) by the orders of Kanzeon Bosatsu. Although, he finds taking care of the "stupid monkey" quite a burden, Konzen is quite fond of him (although, he doesn't show it). His relationship with Goku is pretty much the same with Sanzo. He is the one who gave the name "Goku" (...after much pestering...) because it is simple and short, so Goku won't have a hard time remembering it.

Konzen is quite tall and has an extremely long blond/yellow hair that according to Goku, is like a "sun". Kanzeon even mockingly tells Konzen that he will someday become the "sun" in Goku's life.
