and it is not neccessary to wait, | ואינו צריך להמתין |

Types of waffles which are cooked on a grill, | ואותן רקיקים שנאפים על ברזל |

and there is concern that the grill was smeared | ויש לחוש שנמשח הברזל |
|---|
| |
with (non-kosher) oil, | באיזה שומן |
|---|
| |
are forbidden in all cases | אסורים בכל ענין |

due to (the prohibition about) | משום |

| |
swallowing something which is forbidden. | בליעת איסור |

The bread of a jew which was baked by an idolater, | פת ישראל שאפאו עובד כוכבים |

is less preferable to that of an idolater, | גרע מפת עובד כוכבים |
|---|
| |
under the rule of idolater's cooking, | ואסור משום בישולי עובד כוכבים |
|---|
| |
unless (a jew) koshers the oven (before baking) | אם לא הכשיר את התנור |
|---|
| |
by throwing in (a piece of) wood. | בהשלכת עץ |
|---|
| |
Therefore, one should be careful, | וצריכין ליזהר בזה |

| |
when sending (bread) to be baked | כששולחין לאפות |
|---|

or roasted | או לצלות |

| |

An idolater servant, | שפחה עובדת כוכבים |

| |
(who is employed by) a jewish household, | בבית ישראל |
|---|
| |
and cooks for them, | המבשלת בשביל הישראלים |
|---|
| |
we are lenient (and allow to eat this food) | נוהגין להקל |
|---|
| |
because (we consider) that it was not possible | מפני שאי אפשר |
|---|
| |
that nothing was done | שלא יחתה |
|---|
| |
by one of the (jewish) members of the household | אחד מבני הבית |

that they were not stood | אם אין מעמידין אותן |

in wine as a preservative. | בשמרי יין |

In places where the jews are not careful, | ובמקום שישראלים מזלזלין |

a scrupulous person will be more strict | יש לבעל נפש להחמיר |

on himself, also in connection with (these) drinks. | על עצמו גם בשכר |

Concerning drinking coffee (of an idolater), | ובענין שתיית קפה |

without milk, | בלא חלב |
|---|

(because with milk it is definitely forbidden), | דעם חלב ודאי אסור |

similarly (drinking) chocolate and tea | וכן שוקולדה ותה |

| |
A jew should be present at the outset, | ולכתחלה צריך הישראל |

from the beginning of the milking, | להיות בתחלת החליבה |
|---|
| |
to see that the milk pail is clean. | ויראה שהכלי הוא נקי |

| |
We are strict | ונהגו להחמיר |

and not use for milking, the pail | שלא יחלוב לתוך הכלי |

normally used by the idolater | שדרכו של העובד כוכבים |

The cheese of an idolater is forbidden. | גבינות העובד כוכבים אסורה |

However, if a jew saw the milking | ואם הישראל רואה החליבה |

as well as the making of the cheese, | ועשיית הגבינות |
|---|
| |
and if during the processing | אם הגבינות בשעת עשייתן |

| |
the cheese (already) belongs to the jew, it is permitted. | הן של ישראל מותרות |

However, if it belonged, during the processing, | אבל אם הן בשעת עשייתן |

Concerning butter, there are different local customs. | החמאה תליא במנהג המקומות |

and there are places where they do eat it. | ויש מקומות שאוכלין אותה |
