Sierra Powder has started to gear up for the winter. The news has been recently updated with what the various parks are up to. Reviews for out of state snowboarding are also in the works (it's just an excuse to go to Aspen and Vail to start snowboarding a couple of weeks before the Tahoe resorts open).
Annual Weather Summary
October 1997 - November 1998
The winter season looks like it will be a nasty one, even by Rocky Mountain standards. November will be relatively mild with above-normal temperatures and below-normal precipitation. However, the period from November through March will be about 4 degrees colder than normal, with above-normal snowfall. A mid-December snowstorm will bring a white Christmas to most of the region. Other widespread snowstorms will occur early in the new year, in the beginning and end of February, and in early March.
Colder-than-normal temperatures will occur in April and May. Heavy snow will fall in the mountains and across the north in mid-April and early May, but there will also be some warmth, especially in mid- and late May.
All the other weather predictions for this years snow fall have been either as good as this or better. One even predicted snowboarding until August... hmm. For the latest Tahoe weather report take a look at The Weather Underground.
