Daniel Prophecy
The prophecy which follows is the most acurate prophecy that I have found as far as giving an exact date which can be calculated. That which follows is not to convince you to be a Christian if your aren't one, even though if it does so be it, and glory be to God. But it is for the Christian to strenghten his,or her faith. For the Jew it is a different story, I believe the Jew is responsible as were the Jewish people at the time of Jesus to know who He was and why He was here. They were held accountable for knowing when there Messiah was to come, so much so that those who rejected Jesus as Messiah were slaughtered in 70 A.D. by Romain armies who burned Jerusalem to the ground. Fulfilling another prophecy uttered by Jesus himself when he told the disciples that not one stone of the temple would be left upon another.
Mark 13:1-2 As He was going out of the temple, one of His disciples said* to Him, “Teacher, behold £what wonderful stones and what wonderful buildings!” And Jesus said to him, “Do you see these great buildings? Not one stone will be left upon another which will not be torn down.”
When the invading Romains had burned the city, they discovered that the temple interior was covered with gold. They had to take apart the temple one stone at a time to retrieve the gold that had melted between them. One of the books which I will reference will be "Daniel's Prophecy of the 70 Weeks" by Alva J. McClain. This book is probably the easiest one to understand, and I will quote from it from time to time. First the Prophecy.
The Book of Daniel Chapter 9 Verses 24-27
Verse 24 "Seventy weeks have been decreed for your people and your holy city, to finish the transgression, to make an end of sin, to make atonement for iniquity, to bring in everlasting righteousness, to seal up the vision and prophecy, and to anoint the most holy place.
Verse 25 "So you are to know and discern that from the issuing of a decree to restore and rebuild Jerusalem , until
Messiah the Prince there will be seven weeks and sixty two weeks; it will be built again, with plaza and moat, even in times of distress.
Verse 26 "Then after the sixty-two weeks the Messiah will be cut off and have nothing, and the people of the prince that is to come will destroy the city and the sancturary. And its end will come with a flood; even to the end there will be war; desolations are determined.
Verse 27 "And he will make a firm covenant with the many for one week, but in the middle of the week he will put a stop to sacrafice and grain offering; and on the wing of abominations will come one who makes desolate, even until a complete destruction, one that is decreed, is poured out on the one who makes desolate."
Whoever the Messiah is will be cut off (executed for a capital crime ) and have nothing ! If you are a Christian you have a relief in knowing that your Messiah is Jesus, but if you are a Jew, then you must either try to discount the prophecy, or try to change the meaning in some way. Quite a problem since the decrees are history in themselves, contained in not only in historical writings, but in the Bible. The Jewish Bible, the Law and the Prophets.
