Sunbath
The sunbath crag is a recently developed sport climbing area located very close to the Sunbath (near the Hydro Majestic). Park as for
the Devondale bouldering area, but the walk in is slightly different. As for Devondale, it's
probably better to read either of the two guidebooks for exact directions on how to get there.
The main wall faces almost due east, so is a good option on hot summer afternoons when all of the west facing cliffs are baking. It's
probably a cold climbing spot in winter, however, regardless of when you climb.
There are now two guides for this crag: the "Rockclimbs in the Upper Blue Mountains (2nd Edition)" guide book and the recently published
"Blue Mountains Selected Climbing Areas" guide. While both list all of the routes here, the guides give significantly different grades
for some of the routes.
Old Salt 12m 18 (originally graded 19 or 18, depending on the guide)
A nice sustained route with some good moves on generally sound rock (for this crag at least!). 5 or so bolts lead to a chain lower off (hidden from the ground).
Strange Karma 12m 18 (originally graded 19 or 20, depending on the guide)
Not a bad little route, with monster jugs virtually the whole way up and a one move crux just above the rooflet. 3 fixed hangers and a BR to a double ring bolt lower off shared with the following climb.
Ole Biscuit Barrel 12m 15 (originally graded 17 or 13, depending on the guide)
A rather uninteresting and overbolted route on fairly poor rock. Start at the far left hand end of the main wall. Straight up past 3 BRs (take brackets), then diagonally up and right (crux) past another 2 BRs to double ring bolt lower offs.
Pitang Pitang 10m 15 (originally graded 14 or 17, depending on the guide)
Shares the start with the previous climb. Easily up past 3 BRs, then one move crux past a fixed hanger to the BR and ring bolt lower off.
Kaboomba Brothers 10m 4
Located further on from the previous climbs, just past an overhanging orange wall. 5 BRs to chain lower off, what more can I say?
