Glenbrook Gorge

The Word: Okay, but not for beginners.
Sun/shade: Sun all day.
Wet weather options: None.
Style of Climbs: Old style trad and mixed.
Grades:11-25
Best Route(s): Annelid Crack (** 45m 11).

The Details: Something of an historic area in Blueys climbing, so it's worth a visit for that reason alone. It's also worth bearing in mind as being much closer to Sydney than most Blueys crags. It's a big drop, but there's not many good sections of rock. A beautiful little area to climb though. It's a hard slog out on a hot summers day, but you can always drive down to the swimming hole further upstream.

Access: 15min walk. 1hr drive from Sydney CBD, 3mins drive from Glenbrook.

Described L to R, facing the cliff.

** Annelid Crack 45m 11 (OS, alt)
The strongest line and probably the best climb in the Gorge. A surprisingly pleasant first pitch leads to a big ledge and the main corner. Take hexes for the belay, and #4-5 camalots will be most welcome. The first corner is steep but easy laybacking, and the cruxy top section comprises laybacking a wide slabby corner crack, protected by a single bolt. Rap off chains.
