Landscape Art

Algonquin inspired the Group of Seven to abandon traditional European models and paint Canadian scenery in a new and different style in the early 1900s. The McMichael Canadian Art Collection in Kleinburg, Ontario and The Tom Thomson Memorial Art Gallery in Owen Sound, Ontario contain works by the Group of Seven.

The Group of Seven went on to capture scenes from the north shore of Lake Superior, Georgian Bay and the Canadian Arctic.

Artist and naturalist Robert Bateman worked in a wildlife research camp in Algonquin during his formative years.

The Algonquin Gallery located in the park presents works by Canadian artists including the "Art in the Park" show which features wildlife art.
