Moose on the Loose!

On spring mornings in May and June, you have a very good chance of seeing moose along Highway 60 which cuts across the south of the Park. At any time of year, it is a good idea to drive cautiously in the park for your own protection as well as the moose's.

Other Animals

• LOONS - true symbols of unspoiled wilderness
• There are estimated to be 20,000 beavers in 4,500 colonies. Like humans, beavers are able to significantly alter their environment. Usually, however, beaver activity improves water quality.
• River otters apparently survive the winter by using packets of air trapped under the ice.
• You are unlikely to see a fisher, but their presence has a negative effect on the porcupine population in the park.
