"WELCOME TO MY WORLD"

COME, JOIN ME AND
MY FAMILY
FOR SOME SUMMERTIME
FUN!!!

This is Portage Glacier, located approximately 40 miles South of Anchorage. This glacier is receding at an exceedingly fast rate. The glacier is accessible by a short hiking trail, with some spectacular scenery. The following pictures were made along the trail, and one of the picnic sites at Portage.
We hope you will come back often, and see more places of beauty. As we spend our Summer, fishing/camping and sightseeing!!

Some of us are camera shy!!!

Grandma & Grandpa

This little lady rules our household!!! Our three year old Toy Poodle, whom we call Sugarbaby.

MY DAUGHTER, DEBBIE & STEVE.

One of our favorite picnic sites, near Portage.

MY TWO GRANDCHILDREN!!

Amanda is the daughter of Debbie & Steve.
Joshua is the son of Ralph & Michelle.

We spend much of our camping/fishing time in and along the famous Kenai River. It is known for its trophy size king salmon. Beginning in mid-May the kings come into the river in two overlapping runs and continue through the seasons end, July 31st. Kenai River kings average 45 pounds with many larger. Each season fish around 90 pounds are taken from the Kenai.

MY SON AND HIS FAMILY!!

We will be taking you to some places "off the beaten track". But all beautiful, and FUN!!

This photo made at Beluga Point, approximately 10 miles South of Anchorage. Residents and tourist alike enjoy watching the Beluga Whales frolic in the water, when they come into the Inlet to feed.

Elaine and Mack, relatives from Alabama, spent some time with the family this summer. It was a pleasure to have them enjoy the camping, fishing, and sightseeing with us.

This is what we call a catch and release. My son caught this off the coast at Anchor Point. Our name for them - "Irish Lord".

These are definitely "keepers"!!!

GRANDMA'S PRIDE
AND JOY!!!

Because of its location near Anchorage, and its incomparable scenic beauty, the Kenai National Wildlife Refuge (NWR) has become a popular outdoor recreation area. Visitors, and residents, come to enjoy hunting, fishing, boating, hiking, camping, and wildlife observation. You are treated to a panoramic drive from Anchorage to the refuge passing through rugged narrow valleys and along turquoise-colored lakes and rivers. The northern refuge boundary is 20 air miles from Anchorage. Airports are located at Kenai, Soldotna, and Homer.

Our weekend at Kenai Riverbend Campground July 19, 1997.

This was our trip to the Kenai River for "Dip Netting"! Ralph and Michelle hold two of the 13 salmon netted this day. Dip Netting is only a short season each year. It is regulated by the DFG and is only allowed after a certain number of fish have escaped to the spawning grounds. Only residents may purchase the permit necessary to dip net, and 30 fish per household is allowded for the season. Each salmon must be documented on the permit, and the tail cut off, at the time it comes into the boat. Of course, some people prefer to do their netting from the banks, but it is a hard task to bring in those big salmon. There were 4 netters in Ralph's boat this day. It is Bill's favorite time of the year in Alaska. He did not get any on this weekend, but the previous weekend, along with Steve, Amanda and Whitney, they got 14. Kenai Riverbend Campground is about 150 miles from Anchorage.

Grandpa and Grandma, along with Sugarbaby, roughing it smoothly on the Kenai!!

Family, friends, and good food, around a big campfire!! What more could you ask?
