Hogback Ridge Shelter to Whistling Gap....................................................13.5 miles
Passed Sams Gap, went up and over Big Bald, Big Stamp and Little Bald. Great Views. Passed one shelter, sort of boggy down here. It's still early, we go on to Whistling Gap. Passed a couple halfway between the shelter and Whistling Gap. They have already stopped for the night. Not a great place to stay, no water. We go on. Nice hiking.
Whistling Gap is a great place to camp. The water supply was the slowest of anywhere on the trail, so far. This was a pleasant night. We had gotten in the habit of massaging each others legs and feet and taking vitamins in the morning and Advil at night. There was the daily taping of the blisters, still, or assessing whether yesterday's tape was still good for one more day. We had bought second skin, I wanted to be prepared. We had also brought some other tape for larger problems. Ran out of second skin, had to use the regular tape. Liked it better. Lasted longer, did a great job, and cost less. Another lesson learned.
