Mike Currie (MAGNUM)
was stillhunting through a swamp just a short distance from his Ithaca, NY log home when he came
upon this dandy buck. The deer was staring at him through 60 yds. of fairly thick brush, but Mike found an opening with
his Ultra Dot Scope. One shot from his Winchester Ranger shotgun put the big buck down instantly
with a well delivered slug to the throat patch. The nine point bruiser had a 19 " spread, dressed
out at over 180 pounds,and had a 30" neck!
Paul Abat (VENADO)
of Seguin, Texas was hunting a friends' West Texas ranch when he connected on this fine buck.
Paul had seen the deer once before the season opened, and knew it was an exceptional animal for
that part of the state. This ranch is hunted very hard once the Nov. 1 gun season opens, and Paul just
knew that someone was going to get his deer, however three weeks into the season, no one had even seen it !
On Nov. 25 he set up on a bluff overlooking a dry creekbed and waited. Just after daylight he spotted
the big buck trailing a doe, and with one shot from his Hart barreled custom rifle in 7STW, built on a
Remingtom 700 action, he dropped the 17 point non-typical beauty in his tracks! The buck has a 17"
inside spread,17 scoreable points, was 5 1/2 years old and was the biggest buck to come off this ranch in
six years. The ranch Paul was hunting has a 9 point minimum, but his buck beat that ...ON ONE SIDE !!
Vermont resident John Piper (BROKENPREST)
got this dandy buck while hunting near his camp in Maine. John was still hunting along a spruce covered
ridge on a rainy, windy day, during the second weekend of gun season when he spotted a stump that
did'nt look quite right. After scoping it out, he could see that it wasn't a stump, but a big buck !!
One shot from his 308 Remington Model Six rifle put the 19" 8 pointer down for the count. The big bruiser dressed out at a whopping 235 pounds !
(HOGHUNTER)
hit the Wisconsin "Daily Double" when he nailed these two great bucks on the opening day of gun season. The biggest of the two scores
close to 160 " B&C ! Way to go Sean !!!
