Story # 001: A Room With A View

In early 1986, I sublet a room in a house on Eureka Street in San Francisco with a view overlooking the skyline, the Bay Bridge and, on a clear day, the East Bay. I only lived in that house about two months before the sublet period was over, but it proved to be a musically enriching experience.

One day, upon returning from jamming with the other Uncles in San Jose, I found a party going on at the house. It was a welcome party for Italian guitarist, Peppino D'Agostino. I got to meet Peppino and attended some of his performances. In fact, after one performance, I went out to dinner with Peppino and several friends and had a very nice visit with guitarist Alex de Grassi and his wife.

One of the permanent residence of that house was a lady named Barbara, who sang, played the guitar and wrote a bit. Barbara and I jammed a couple of times, and she later provided a vocal track for a song ("Reaching For The Sky") I recorded in a small studio at the City College of San Francisco.
