Let us Not Dispair by Paul Eidelberg
Our brothers and sisters are murdered each passing day.
Our children ride to school in fear while mothers pray their safe return.
Our poor become poorer.
Our sick lack adequate care.
Our elderly suffer with every strike.
Our High Court of Justice teaches nepotism and relativism.
Our Government does only enough to avoid rebellion.
For leaders politicians dedicated to their seats.
Eyes they have but no vision.
Ears they have but hear no truth.
Their tongues speak only lies.
They call evil good.
They cannot love;
They cannot hate,
They are hollow men.
And so it is with our media.
Word mongers, they analyze and criticize,
While Jewish land soaks in Jewish blood.
Litterateurs men without chests.
Our rabbis, they wander dazed and divided.
Up and down this hallowed land we seek
And yet not a single law do we find.
Anarchy is loosed upon our country.
Inevitable the State's pathetic end,
But only of its flawed beginning,
Which burst forth with energy and passion,
Lacking only enduring purpose.
Without G-d entropy descends,
But let us not despair.
For only after our nation's physical revival in Eretz Israel,
Only after we experience the futility of secular government,
Only with our undergoing a period of spiritual cleansing,
Only then shall we return to G-d and His Torah.
"For I will take you from among the nations,
and gather you out of all countries,
and I will bring you into your own land.
Then I will sprinkle pure water upon you,
and you shall be clean; from all your uncleanliness,
and from all your idols, will I cleanse you.
A New heart will I also give you,
And a new spirit will I put within you.
And I will take away the stony heart out of your flesh,
And I will give you a heart of flesh.
And I will put My spirit in you,
And cause you to follow My statutes,
And you shall keep My judgments and do them.
And you shall dwell in the land that I gave to your fathers.
And you shall be My people, and I shall be your G-d"(Ezekiel 36:24- 28).
