UK Page Seven

On our seventh day in the UK, we stopped at Gretna Green before leaving Scotland.  We drove through the beautiful Lake District, stopping at Thrilmere and Grasmere, home of William Wordsworth.  We also also went to Windermere and took a boat ride and then a steam train ride.  We finally stopped in Lancaster for the evening.

Thrilmere in the Lake District.

Another view of the Lake District at Thrilmere.

Here's a shot of the mountains at Thrilmere.  This was the gate to a public footpath.  The footpath was closed because of foot and mouth disease.

Here's a view from the boat on Windermere Lake.

I'm enjoying the boat ride as Mom takes pictures.  I had just beat Mom at another game of cribbage.

I wanted to take a picture from the steam train we were on and discovered that others were enjoying the views as well.

This is another shot from the train.  It was a hazy day, but I don't think it rained on us except for a few sprinkles.

A home in Grasmere.

This is a photo of me at the Grasmere parish.  In the yard of this church are the graves of Wordsworth and his family.

Right around the corner from this church was a very small little bakery that had the best gingerbread ever!
