Semi-Trailing Arm rear suspension unit |
Front disk brake |
"The Zephyr Mark IV has an advanced and extremely efficient 4-wheel independent suspension
system with semi-trailing arms and shackles, coil springs and telescopic
dampers. The individually sprung rear wheels, being free from the twisting forces imposed by a normal rear axle, maintain close contact on wet and slippery roads and permit the full power of the car to be used with safety." |

A detachable cross-member supports the engine and carries the inner pivots for the
rear suspension links. Final drive and rear suspension assemblies are also carried
on detachable cross-members, which are rubber insulated at their four anchorages
to the main hull. Extensions behind the gearbox and forward from the final
drive housing have kept propeller shaft length to the minimum, eliminating
a possible source of noise and vibration. Mounting the spare wheel in the nose
has made room for a huge boot capacity without much tail overhang |
