My bike and me. You can see the stock
pipes, DP hugger, RKA tank bag etc.

Here is a list of what has been changed on my 1995 Ducati 916: Ducati Performance rear "hugger" fender/chain guard in carbon fiber to keep the road crap off the beautiful Ohlins shock. Carbon fiber key-guard on tank from previous owner. Heli-bars, higher and wider clip-on handlebars. Much more comfortable than stock. I haven't had a chance to try any other bar risers yet. Kerbacher seat (spelling?). This one I got used, and is MUCH more comfortable than stock. However I'm thinking about trying a Sargent seat unit, as it looks even more comfortable. The nice thing about this unit is it looks totally stock. Electrex Voltage Regulator, helps to keep the battery charged. Re-wired stator, for electrical reliability. See stator page. Voltage meter mounted on headstock below guages. The original owner installed the "competition" rear tail section with the white "number plate" design. RKA mini-tank bag. The smallest one they sell, holds a few little tools, cell phone, etc. Just the right size for the superbike, and cost about $55. I'm running Dunlop D207 street tires at the moment, though I think Michelin Pilot Sports might be the best tire for this machine. The Dunlops are cheaper, though. Foam "belt guard" tank pad. Very necessary, and cheap. |

List of things to change on the 916: Sargent seat unit, if it is better than my Kerbacher seat. Swap front brake pads for either EBC HH pads or DP HH pads. Stock ones feel like wood. Wire voltage regulator back to rear-fender for cooling and reliability. Install switch to turn off headlight during the day. HID headlight conversion. Costs over $300. so it might be a while, but the stock setup is pretty bad if you get stuck riding down a dark road at night. Nichols lightweight flywheel. Everyone says the bike spins up faster and is more fun to ride with one of these lightweight beauties. Clutch kit. There are kits that have whole new clutch baskets/plates that are supposed to be much better and quieter. The fact that I have swapped back to the stock exhaust on my Duck for noise says a lot. The rattle of my clutch is obscene- even when compared to other 916's. Not a priority, but would be nice. Chris Kelly's license plate bracket kit. The stock unit is big enough for a Harley. Besides that, it is wonderful. |
