Link Attacks Link Attack

Link Attacks can be confusing. This page is intended to help navigate through the confusion. All examples presented are based on Double Link Attacks (2 senshi involved). Triple Link Attacks follow the same system as Double Link Attacks, but 3 senshi are involved instead.

Creating Link Attacks

Link Attacks cannot be performed unless they've been tested in the Make Up Link Subscreen.

Make Up Link Subscreen

You need to select at least two senshi for a link attack. Use the arrow keys to manuever the selector. Sailor Moon is in Area 3 by default; she can be removed whenever you want. There must be either two or three senshi in Area 3 to test for a link attack.

Once you have at least two senshi in Area 3, press the Y-button to test whether the two senshi can perform a Link Attack. If succesful, Area 4 will display the LA's name, description, and EP cost, and the Link Attack will be displayed in the Link Techs Subscreen. If the Link Attack attempt is unsuccesful, Area 4 will display the words "The link failed!" In the case of failure, try a different combination of senshi.

Senshi Stats shows the link attacks each senshi can perform. There is also an index of all the link attacks.

Controls also has an explanation of how to form Link Attacks.

Using Link Attacks (Part 1 of 2)

Status Subscreen

Link Attacks (LA) are attacks performed by two or three senshi. They draw power from each senshi involved in the attack. Link Attacks can become powerful, but only if you pay attention and nurse their power. The strength of Link Attacks are not affected by Formation.

LAP - Link Attack Power - is shown on the Status Subscreen, shown here. LAP is earned in half (.5) points, but the Status Subscreen will only show whole points, rounded down. If a senshi has 4.5 LAP, it is displayed as 4 LAP.

Damage done by a Link Attack is determined by the amount of LAP, or Link Attack Power, a senshi has. Low LAP means low damage to the enemy. High LAP means high damage to the enemy. A senshi gains 1 LAP by performing two Link Attacks. She must be the one to initiate both attacks, otherwise she doesn't get the full point.

All senshi involved in a Link Attack must be alive when the attack is performed. Link Attacks cannot be performed if one of the senshi involved in the attack dies (HP of 0) before the attack is performed, has a status ailment that prevents her from attacking (such as sleep), or doesn't have enough energy to contribute to the attack.

** LAP points go to the senshi who initiates the Link Attack. **

For Example:

Mercury and Venus have a Link Attack called Shabon Chain. If Mercury initiates the Shabon Chain LA, Mercury gets .5 LAP points, but Venus does not. If Venus initiates another Shabon Chain, Mercury does not get .5 LAP points; Venus does.

In addition, 2 EP will be used from both Mercury and Venus. If either one of them cannot attack for any reason (sleep, faint, lack of EP, etc), the Link Attack will not be performed.

Using Link Attacks (Part 2 of 2)

A senshi doesn't get the 1.0 LAP point by performing Link Attack Alpha and then Link Attack Beta. She must do Link Attack Alpha twice before performing Link Attack Beta. If she only does one Link Attack Alpha, she won't get any more LAP points, no matter how many Link Attack Beta's she does, until she does Link Attack Alpha again.

A senshi can only gain 1 whole LAP point by initiating the same LA twice. If she does one LA and then a different LA, she only gets .5 points.

Basically, if a senshi initiates a Link Attack twice, but doesn't earn any LAP points, she has performed a different Link Attack only once. She needs to perform that other Link Attack again in order to receive any more points. Any potential LAP points that could have been earned are NOT EARNED while she has only performed (at least) one Link Attack once.

Example:

Suppose that Saturn (above) has .5 LAP points, which is displayed as 0 LAP, which she earned by initiating Spiral Revolution (Link Attack with Sailor Moon). She must initiate Spiral Revolution again in order to get another .5 points. If she does Crescent Revolution (Link Attack with Sailor Venus), she does not get the .5 points that she should get, because she only has a half-point with Sailor Moon.
