Meditation


Meditation is a very good method to calm your mind and be at peace with yourself. Meditation is common in many mystic traditions. There are numorous methods of meditation which all serve a certain purpose. I guess you could say meditation is a form of contemplation. Many people will repeat a poem that means something important to them and really try to find the meaning of it. Practicioners of Zen often use little riddles called koans like "Who is reciting the Buddha's name?" They keep that line in their head all the time, when meditating and also when they are not. I guess it just keeps them focused and centered, I'm not really sure.

There are techniques which is just basically focusing on a certain object like a candle or a flower. The purpose of this is to help with concentration.
