A mon seul desir is the first in a series of 15th Century French tapestries called The Lady and the Unicorn. The tapestries, besides being excellently preserved examples of the artform, demonstrate the typical image of the unicorn in the middle ages: small and delicate, almost kid-like with cloven hooves, goat's beard and tail. The tapestries depict the five senses:sight, hearing, taste, smell, and touch.
