Welcome to the homepage for my random dungeon generator. This was a significant project of mine back around 10 years ago. It started when I bought the Gamescience Book of Tables, a collection of generic random tables for gaming. One of the tables in there was a random dungeon generator by Neils Erickson. It was obviously geared for use with D&D, but I liked it a lot. I tried playing it with T&T a couple times as written, and found that it needed some tweaking to really work right. So I went to work, and the result is pretty good.
The original table by Erickson had in mind that a GM would use the table to develop a dungeon as the players explored. Considering T&T's proliference of solo adventures, I geared my version of the table to be used as a solo dungeon delve for 4 first level characters. I have also used it to map out dungeons before any characters descend into them, but that is not the main use of the table. You will get a lot of hours use out of the Random Dungeon Generator, however you use it. And even if you don't care about the dungeon generation part, you may want to download it just to look at the traps and creatures; you may find something you want to steal.
There are two versions of the generator on the site at present. Most of you will want version 2.1, the latest version of the generator. This version has been updated to conform with 7th edition rules, and there have been a number of revisions to make the generator's results less ambiguous. Another big change with version 2.1 is that it is designed to be customizable. The trap tables, monster tables, treasure tables, and more can be tweaked, changed, or replaced wholesale without significant impact to the overall design, and you are encouraged to customize the table to fit your own play style, add your own custom monsters, add your own custom traps, etc. Remember the old adage: "You are only playing the game wrong if you are not having fun." The original version is also still available, for those of you who are interested in what was changed between versions, or for those of you who still want to use the original version for 5th edition games.
