George Fenton: YOU'VE GOT MAIL

The last of the seven scores composed by the English George Fenton in 1998, among those stand the splendid Dangerous Beauty and Ever After, this new version of the play by Miklós Lászlo previously filmed by Ernst Lubitsch in The Shop Around the Corner (1940), and by Robert Z. Leonard in In the Good Old Summertime (1949), has a kind and nice tone present in the music of Fenton already from their main theme, with multitude of details that speak of the versatility and elegance of the English composer, always reliable at the hour of put music to any comissionb, no matter the gender that belongs. The beauty of Fenton's music is accompanied, this time, with two songs performed by Nilsson (Remember and Over the Rainbow) that constitute a stupendous colophon. E.V.
