Publication Details
This text originally formed the first half of the introduction to a collection of writings by members of the Italian communist left on the Spanish Civil War ("Bilan"-- contre--révolution en Espagne, ed. J. Barrot, U.G.E. 10/18, Paris, pp. 9-47).
The complete version of that original text can be found in french here at this link.
This translation was first published by Black Cat Press in Edmonton Canada in 1982. Subsequently it was reprinted in the U.K. by Pirate Publications. A plaintext version can be found online in the Spunk Archive (though it contains some minor typing errors) - see our links for Dauvé/Barrot.
In 1998 a letter about this translation from the original author, Gilles Dauvé, who wrote under the name Jean Barrot in the 1970's, was published in the UK journal Aufheben. That letter is reprinted here.
In June 1998 Gilles Dauvé published an article "Quand Meurent les Insurrections..." reworking his original text. A translation by Loren Goldner can be found at this link on the Collective Action Notes website.
A version of that translation revised by Gilles Dauvé can be found at this link on the Antagonism site.
