| Got to Antelope late tonight and left the teams there. Walked |
| to Shaniko. got there at 1 o'clock A.M. very tired. |
| Saturday, April 25, 1903 |
| Took the train for Biggs. Seemed very good to get on a train |
| again after riding so far on a wagon even if it is a miserable |
| train. Got there at noon and at 3:30 P.M. took the overland |
| train for Portland and got there at 8 o'clock that night. |
| Sunday, April 26, 1903 |
| We found Mr. Dean and we all went to the theater to hear |
| "Ole Oleson" in the afternoon. It was very good. |
| Monday, April 27, 1903 |
| We went to the city park in the forenoon and in the afternoon |
| up on Portland heights. |
| Wednesday, April 29, 1903 | Manda had a baby girl |
| We went up the Willamette River to Oregon City on the steam | named her Leona |
| boat. This was the first time I ever was on a steam boat. |
| Thursday, April 30, 1903 |
| We went up to the city hall to see the museum. Lots of funny |
| and queer things. |
| Friday, May 01, 1903 |
| Commenced working in the office for Hawthorne and |
| Schylerman. |
| Saturday, May 02, 1903 |
| Walter went to work and Dean's folks went home. It makes |
| me lonesome and I wish I was able to go too. |
| Tuesday, May 05, 1903 |
| Bro. Joe came out to take a timber claim. I was glad to see |
| him. And I hope he gets a good claim. |
