Guernsey has an open harbour, which means any vessel can make use
of it's facilities (at a price). It is very a popular port during the summer months, with
both English and French yachts spending time in the visitors marinas.
A large section of the harbour pool is
tidal. At times quite large vessels can be seen dried out when moored to the jetties
nearer the coast.
Smaller vessels needing
maintenance are often brought onto the careening hard, just off the right-hand side of
this picture.
Havelet Bay is situated to the South of
the main harbour and Castle Cornet. Larger yachts can be moored here. Just visible on the
right of this picture are the tidal bathing pools. To the left in the distance is Jerbourg
point, the South-Eastern corner of Guernsey.
