Mustang Club of America

This was the orginal Mustang Special.

As far back as 1965/66 the Denver Regional Office was offering these Promotions. The Denver office has offered the Bronco truck as a Special in the past.I have also heard of a Ski Special, however I don't know if this was out of the Denver office as well but have read about a Fairlane station wagon in the mid to late 60's with special options (ski racks ect.)

The HCS was based on the Mustang Hardtop and as with all Mustangs a compelet option list was present to build your "own" Mustang. Viewing the HCS you will see a strong resemblance to the California Special, the side scoops,Fog Lamps and hood lock and other body additions are shared.
In 1968 it is reported that appox. 251 High Country Specials were produced.

I would like to thank Brent for the photos of his '68 HCS
and confriming the total production
numbers of 251 units built.

I do suggest you visit the HIGH COUNTRY SPECIAL/California Special website for more information and photos of this Special Mustang and if you have one take time to join their registry.
