I. In General

1.

All teams must register within their correct age division and competition level. Teams that
misrepresent themselves will be forfeited out of all trophy competition.

2.

Where applicable, advertised early registration discounts will only be accepted up until
the date indicated.

3.

All teams must have their completed roster submitted prior to their first game. There are
no drops or adds after the roster has been received. Teams that do not have a roster on
file prior to the competition will be subject to disqualification from trophy competition.
Roster Maximum is 15 players.

4.

There are no refunds after the advertised early registration date. Any team that withdraws
from the tournament after that date will not receive a refund.

5.

If the tournament is canceled in whole or shortened in part for any reason, including
inclement weather or any other "Act of God," no refunds will be given.

6.

The Tournament Committee, the Pikesville Softball Program and the Pikesville
Recreation & Parks Council will not be responsible for any expenses incurred by any
team, club or organization if the tournament is canceled in whole or in part. The Tourna-
ment Committee reserves the right to decide on all matters pertaining to the operation of
the tournament and its judgment is final.

7.

Games will be scheduled on Friday evenings for area teams only. Tournament will be completed
on Saturday and Sunday, with Monday being used as an inclement weather date.

II. Rules of Play

ASA rules will be used for the tournament with exceptions noted below.

1.

PITCHING rules will follow High School Federation rules.
Pitchers must have only the pivot foot in contact with the pitching rubber; the non-
pitching foot must be on or behind the rubber. If a pitcher hits three (3) batters above the
knee in one inning, she must either sit on the bench or be moved to a non-pitching
position for the remainder of that inning. If she returns in a subsequent inning and hits
two (2) more batters above the knee, she will not be allowed to pitch for the remainder
of that game.

2.

PLAYERS AND SUBSTITUTION
A minimum of eight (8) players is required to start and end a game. Unlimited
substitution of players is allowed throughout the game. If only eight (8) players are
utilized, the vacant ninth spot is not considered an automatic out.

3.

BATTING ORDER
Batting order must follow the lineup provided to opposing coach. Each team is allowed to
list nine (9) field players and an Extra Hitter (EH).

4.

PITCHING - MOUND CONFERENCES
Two (2) mound conferences to the same pitcher in the same inning requires that this
pitcher be removed for the remainder of that inning. However, this pitcher may return to
pitch in subsequent innings (unlimited substitution).

5.

GAME TIME LIMIT
This is a seven-(7) inning game with an 80-minute time limit (no new inning may start
after 80 minutes from the beginning of the game). Games will be decided at that point
with the possibility of games ending in TIES.

6.

SLAUGHTER RULE
If after four (4) complete innings, a team is leading by 10 or more runs, the game is over.

7.

TIE GAMES
In the event a game is tied and all seven (7) innings are played and the 80-minute time
limit is not up, then starting in the eighth inning and all subsequent innings, the last
batter of of the previous inning will be placed on second base to begin the next inning.

8.

PITCHING/BASE DISTANCE
Pitching - 35 feet for 10 & Under and 40 feet for all others.
Bases - 55 feet for 10 & Under and 60 feet for all others.

9.

SPEEDUP RULE
Catchers MUST be pinch run for when on base with two (2) outs by the runner
who has made the last out. Pitchers may be pinch run for in the same manner, but is not
mandatory in this case.
NOTE: The catcher MUST be putting her gear on to be ready for the next inning.

10.

Dropped third strike, infield fly rule and stealing of home are all in effect.

11.

10-UNDER ONLY
No bunting, no dropped third strike, and no stealing of home. Stealing is permitted once the ball has passed
home plate. Ten (10) field players are allowed as well as an Extra Hitter (EH).

All Championship Games will be played without a time limit.
