This week's goal:This week you will master all the tags you need to make a basic document. Use these tags to "mark up" your text, and it will be displayed in the browser. What to do this week:1. Read Dave Raggett's HTML 4 chapters 4, 5 and 6 or the material about these topics in the text you prefer. If you need to see the material explained another way, visit the "Resources" link and "Readings" links below. (I especially recommend the essay by Daniel Tobias listed in the supplemental readings, if you have time.) 2. Visit the links below about <p> and <b> and <li> for some comments about these topics. The comments do not repeat the material in the book, but emphasize the difference between structural or logical tags versus tags used to control the visual appearance and lay-out on a page. 3. Try the quiz if you want to check out what you know. You will not be graded and do not need to send it in. It is only for your own use. |

4. If you know some particularly good idea of how to use these tags, post it to the ListServ with the subject of your message marked "Good Ideas for Topic 4." 5. Complete the submission, post it on your web site and send a text version as an attachment to the instructor. 6. If you have problems doing the assignment, post your question to the ListServ with the subject of your message marked "Please Help with Topic 4." If you can answer a question posted there, please do. |
