Be’lal

     Be’lal, the Envious, is certainly the Forsaken of whom the least is known.  A master of manipulation, his reputation led him to be known as the Netweaver.

     Originally he was Duram Laddel Cham.  Little is known of Be’lal’s life before he turned to the Shadow.  Some records indicate that he may have been a strong force opposing the Shadow before during to the Dark One.

     Be’lal was a better manipulator than Rahvin and more skillful than Sammael in dealing with enemies in open conflict.  For this reason Be’lal was an extremely dangerous adversary.  Be’lal is suspected to be among those who

razed the Hall of the Servants days before the Bore was sealed.

Since his release...

     After escaping the Bore, Be’lal made his way to Tear where he ruled as the High Lord Samon.  Here Be’lal made plans to kill Rand al’Thor when he came to claim Callandor from the Heart of the Stone.  If things went well, he might even gain possession of Callandor.

     These plans were foiled when he was killed in the Stone of Tear by Moiraine Damodred.  Like others of the Forsaken, he is forever out of the reach of the Great Lord of the Dark; he was killed with balefire.
