Elayne Trakand

Elayne Trakand is the Daughter-Heir of Andor.  She has reddish gold hair, and is as great a beauty as her mother Queen Morgase.  Her strength of will and strong character shows signs she will follow her mother as an affective ruler.

Elayne journeyed to Tar Valon to study in the White Tower, like every Daughter-Heir for hundreds of years.  But Elayne was the first with the potential to become a full Aes Sedai.  She joined with the rebel Aes Sedai in Salidar, and was accepted

into the Green Ajah.

The Aes Sedai are very excited about Elayne for numerous reasons.  One is obviously that she will be the first Queen to openly be Aes Sedai in many generations.  Second, Elayne also has a great deal of potential, only Egwene al’Vere and Nynaeve al’Meara are as strong in the One Power as Elayne.

Perhaps most importantly, though, Elayne has shown the ability to make ter’angreal.  The ability to make ter’angreal had been lost since the Breaking of the World, and many had given up hope that it would ever be rediscovered.  Her first success was the creation of an a’dam, and she has since progressed to other ter’angreal.  While she has yet to produce an angreal or a sa’angreal , hope remains high she might be able to revive that long lost art.

Elayne, like Nynaeve and Egwene, has shared in credit for discoveries which actually come from information forced from the trapped Moghedien.  Elayne’s progress has been rapid, progressing in use of the One Power like few others.  A great deal of her strength was developed when she spent time aboard a Sea Folk ship with a Windfinder who could channel.

Elayne bonded her first Warder before she was raised a full Aes Sedai, an offense that could have been severely punished if discovered.  It was looked upon as odd that Elayne chose a woman as her Warder, but things are not as they seem.  Elayne’s Warder is actually Birgitte , the hero of legend, a fact that is known to only a few.

It also appears that Elayne is one of three women fated to fall in love with Rand al’Thor , the Dragon Reborn.  She is a very good friend of Min Farshaw, one of the other women who loves Rand.  Elayne is also a near-sister to the third woman, a former Aiel Maiden of the Spear named Aviendha.

Elayne Trakand is undoubtedly an important figure in the world.  Her ties to Rand, in addition to her own deeds fighting the Shadow, make her a potential target for the forces of the Dark One.  But her almost unparalleled strength in the Power makes her very capable of taking care of herself.
