Collectively, Our Lady Peace makes a great musical package. But, who are
the guys that make up this amazing band? What were they doing BEFORE they signed with a
major record company? If you've been wondering too, you've come to the right place.
Raine grew up in Weston, Ontario as Michael Maida. His parents are divorced and he has one younger brother. He changed his name when he hooked up
with Mike Turner (Guitar) because two "Mike's" in a band would be confusing. Before forming
Our Lady Peace, Raine was attending the University of Tornoto studying for a degree in Criminology.
Influences include Middle Eastern sounds, along with the "musical acrboatics" of Bjork and
Sinead O'Connor. Born on February 18, he is now 26.
Mike Turner was one of the original members of the band, along with Raine, even before they
had named themselves Our Lady Peace. Originally from Bradford, England, his influnces come from punk. His birthday lies on June 5, and he has three sisters.
Jeremy Taggart was recruited fresh out of high school at the tender age of 17. Having a strong
background in Jazz, his influences are of the Jazz genre as well. He is now 21 (birthday: April 27). He has two brothers and one sister.
Duncan Coutts, an only child, was the original bassist for Our Lady Peace, but had to choose between school and
getting serious with the band. He opted to get his education, but in 1995, he replaced Chris Eacrett.
Sometimes things do come full circle! His birthday is on February 4.
