Discography

Our Lady Peace's first CD, Naveed, was released in 1994. Along with it came 4 singles; Starseed, Naveed, Hope, Supersattelite and one Live in '95 album which was only released to the members of the Pied Piper's Union (their Official Fan Club)

Pressure fell on OLP for another solid album after the success of Naveed. In 1997, they delivered by releasing their second CD, Clumsy. It was an instant success, hitting #1 on charts all across Canada within the first week of release. So far, Superman's Dead is the only single available for this album.

Another place you can find OLP is on Neil Young's tribute album Borrowed Time performing a re-arranged version of Needle and the Damage Done. The Craft soundtrack features OLP with a Beatles cover, Tomorrow Never Knows. The National Lampoon's Senior Trip soundtrack also has OLP with Starseed. This summer's new release, "I Know What You Did Last Summer" has OLP on their soundtrack with the Clumsy track (it will not appear in the movie)

Their Videos

OLP recorded a video for the song Out of Here before they signed a record deal and was never released.

4 videos were released for Naveed; Birdman, Starseed, Hope and Naveed. The Starseed video was filmed in a warehouse in Toronto.

3 videos are released for the latest CD, Clumsy; Superman's Dead (filmed in Toronto and there are two versions of this video, one released in Canada and one released in the US. I've heard that the US version is more 'industrial'),Clumsy and the self-directed Automatic Flowers (filmed in a rehearsal room in a Toronto warehouse)

What's In A Name?

Did you know that our favorite band got it's name from a POEM?

The names for OLP's songs seem fitting, but maybe they didn't start out that way. Here's a few examples:

Before Story of 100 Aisles, Anacin was it's ID

Propeller was the original name for the Clumsy CD

Spider Gun was re-named Disgusted and finally re-named again to Shaking

***EXTRA!!!
Two songs Home and Trapeze were recorded for Clumsy but didn't make the final cut. They were performed with OLP toured with Alanis Morissette and will likely be released on a B-Sides album.

F.A.Q.

The man that appears on both Naveed and Clumsy CD covers (yes, it's the same man) is actor Sol Fox. He also plays the birdman in the video, Birdman. One interesting thing is that his picture is on the bass drum on Jeremy's set in the Starseed video.

The Sanskrit on the jewel box for Naveed means "God give us Peace"

The picture on the fourth page of the Clumsy liner notes depicts a clown holding onto a trapeze with the same Sanskrit meaning Our Lady Peace on it.

Sol Fox on the Naveed album cover does indeed have one of his nipples pierced.

The symbols on Raine's guitar as seen in the Naveed video is Persian for Naveed

Naveed was an Iranian friend of Raine's. It means bearer of good news.

This may not be very frequently asked, but X-Philes will understand the signifigance of the following:

The term "Starseed" also means the offspring of a human and alien cross-breed

Mailing List

As far as I know, OLP doesn't have a newsgroup. They do, however, have a really good mailing list called Transparent Humans. It is run in co-operation with the band and is a great place to share ideas about concerts, Cd's anything OLP related. Word is that some of the members of OLP sometimes post and have a subscription as well. To subscribe, just send an e-mail here with "subscribe" in the subject box.
