Symbol of the House of Jivanor
House of Jivanor

Jivanor -
(Jevenar)- Major Deity
Deity of: Fortune, humor and romantic love. Jivanor is also the deity of changing destiny and fate by changing the plans of the gods on a whim by introducing random events.
Form: Jivanor never consistently appears in any one form, male or female. All Jivanor's forms are jovial, friendly, humorous and/or erotic.
Colours: blue, red and white
Alignment: Chaotic Good.  More chaotic than good.
Cardinal Direction: South-East.  East representing Jivanor's closeness with the basest sources of humanity and the simplest joys.  South is considered more healthy and warm, and virile/fertile Jivanor is clearly warm...
Church and Following: While, in general, this god will follow the well laid plans of the gods and humanity, Jivanor is sometimes known to play the prankster and interfere. Mythology has many tales of his wily tricks to bring amusement, confusion or goodness into fated, unhappy chains of events. He also does the same to relieve people of their own follies.
Outwardly this lot sometimes appears about as happy-go-lucky as one can get. Love, pranks, humor and gluttony all combine to form one great ecstatic burst of life that should be our existence. All of this, however, is based on the sad premise that life is really misery and fortune is cruel. The only escape is a single minded devotion to joy.
Priests are devoted to spreading joy. They hold festivals and celebrations. They encourage young lovers. They build parks and pavilions. They foster musicians and poets, dancers and acrobats, cooks and brewers. There is no joyous moment when the hand of Jivanor is not felt.
Some come to pray when fortune turns bad. Jivanor is implored to bring good fortune and play one of his famous tricks on cruel fate.
A small percentage of priests are quite melancholy and meditate on the cruelties of fortune. These priests implore Jivanor to add a little random shift into peoples lives to relieve them of their troubles and sorrow.
It should be noted that not all of Jivanor's random interventions have a positive result, nor are they always intended to have a positive result. On some occasions, Jivanor's interventions are meant to 'awaken' people to the folly and misery of the paths they have chosen. These people, however, don't always get the hint and will go to great lengths to stick to their paths - often with disastrous result. Sometimes, Jivanor seems to play tricks merely for his own amusement - Jivanor seems to sometimes forget that mere mortals have a very limited look on their existence and may be seriously ruined or harmed by his humour...
Church and State:  There is considerable range of views on the church of Jivanor as far as governments are conserned.  Some states are well connected with Jivanor and patronize many festivals and events, other governments take a dim view of the 'reckless degenerates' who inhabit the church of Jivanor.  No matter how friendly the government, the minor deity Parsax of the House of Jivanor is always a sore point with governments.  A deity dedicated to relieving people of their property is one bit of competition governments strive to contain.
Relations within the Pantheon: The devoted followers of other churches distrust the Church of Jivanor. The ways of Jivanor lead to decadence and debauchery they claim. By and large, they are right.
Some churches, especially that of Anacor, have considerable overlap with the church of Jivanor.  The arts are jointly patronized by Anacor and Jivanor, and the two churches are known to cooperate extensively in some areas.
One church with considerable overlap, that of the Venalena, is not so friendly.  All too often the followers of Venalena are left to pick up the pieces when young love and wild fun turn sour.
The churches of Graal and Seandac, predictably, are not at all fond of Jivanor's merry faithful - though they will still call on the services of bards and entertainers when they are required.
Jivanor and Priests: All special benefits are directly spell related.

Moesaan -
Minor Deity, House of Jivanor
Deity of: Music, dance, other performing arts and bards.
Form: A bard of the local style.
Colours: Red, blue and white.
Church and following: Moesaan's followers are not powerful but are very popular. Few can complain about the joy this church adds to all festivities and occasions. Other churches and all branches of government call on Moesaan at one time or another.
Outside of adding to festivities, this church fosters the musicians and performing artists of an area. They train children in musical instruments and raise money to train the very poorest.
Bards almost invariably owe allegiance to this church. Many bards owe their lives to intervention by this church on their behalf. Bard guilds and unions often meet in the confines of this church, or vice-versa. While bards are often noted for their cavalier treatment of religion, they almost never disparage Moesaan. Moesaan's priests, on their part, rarely attempt to preach or dictate to bards on the grounds that interference will disrupt the natural growth of their artistic talents.

Cuensaria -
Minor Deity, House of Jivanor
Deity of: Romantic and sensual love.
Form: A very sensual woman with the Wand of Fulfillment.
Colours: Red, pink and blue.
Church and Following: Lovers of all stripes and kinds come here to pray. Some come to bless their relationships. Some come in the hope of divine aide in attracting the one they desire. Some hope for help in choosing between conflicting loves. Others come looking to find their unfaithful spouses praying. Men come to pray for increased virility and duration.
The churches of Venalena, Seandac and Graal dislike Cuensaria's lax attitude toward romance outside of marriage. While the followers of the Kendrish pantheon have a fairly liberal attitude toward sex itself, sex outside of marriage is generally frowned on. Quite logically, unwanted babies and fanatically jealous spouses create social problems. Birth control is generally too expensive for the general population. Uneducated peasants (and often the educated) use violent means to stop unfaithful spouses. The lawful churches, however, tend to ignore the reality of human nature in the application of their morality. The situation is sticky with complications and recriminations tend to fly about when these situations occur. Cuensaria usually takes the worst of it (Seandac's acts of revenge take a strong second).
Cuensaria and Priests: Priests of this church automatically start with the [Seduction] skill (see skills), but not with the [Sex] skill. This church, however, can usually arrange a teacher for the [Sex] skill if required.

Ranbleur -
Minor Deity, House of Jivanor
Deity of: Gambling.
Form: A tall thin man with long fingered hands constantly tumbling the Dice of Ranbleur.
Colours: Blue, white and red.
Church and Following: Those who prefer risk and gamble love Ranbleur. Naturally lawful churches disdain this church.
This church doesn't have much of a priesthood, church or stable following. It might, however, have the most prayers dedicated to it (over dice usually).
Ranbleur and Priests: All priests of Ranbleur start with the [Gaming] skill (see skills).

Parsax -
Minor Deity, House of Jivanor
Deity of: Thieves.
Form: A short slim thief dressed in dark gray. Carries the Dagger of Opening.
Colours: What colour? I don't see any colors!
Church and Following: Parsax does not believe in property.  Things will come and things will go, fighting to keep them will only result in sadness and fear.  Life, in essence, is not about what you own but what you do.  And being of the house of Jivanor, theft of things that make you happy is encouraged - just don't expect to keep it.
Followers agree more on their dislike of the ostentatious display of wealth by the rich than by any particular desire to help the less fortunate (except one's self of course).  This not a church of Robin Hood types by any intentional design, though it often ends up that way - sometimes by intention but usually by accident.  Click here to view a prayer from the church of Parsax.
Often their church (if it is not on the grounds of the church of Jivanor) is not open to the public.
Parsax and Priests: This church doesn't have a large priesthood, but the priests it has are possibly the most unusual. Most have some thieving abilities and are not noted for wearing their vestments often. Many large thieves guilds have an in-house priest of Parsax. Priests of Parsax may take many of the skills normally associated with thieves.

Glargan -
Minor Deity, House of Jivanor
Deity of: Alcohol and drunken shenanigans.
Form: A happy disheveled man carrying the Cup of Joy.
Church and Following: Two main groups form the following of Glargan. Brewers and innkeepers pray here for spirited brew that brings peaceful joy to their patrons. The other group is composed of brawlers, bards and other wild sorts.
The few priests this church boasts are noted for brewing fine wines and spirits.
Glargan and Priests: All priests start with the [Brewing] skill.
