Those who stand with The OverSeer in the ruling of Ashtaroth gather here.

Each province of Ashtaroth is independently ruled and provides a vital resource to the others. The primary leaders of each province are the BattleLords. Potential battlelords are chosen by nomination of the people of each province.

The one chosen must then face the resident BattleLord in the battle of ascension. This is done every 3 years. Potential BattleLords can not campaign for the nomination.

Anybody within the realm can be a battlelord. It has nothing to do with rank or power. You simply must have the trust & admiration of the people whom you would represent and it must be their idea to send you.

Typically, battlelords have sons who are beloved of the people. Often times it is they who are chosen to face their fathers and become the battlelords.

BattleLords who represent their people poorly, generally do not stay in their position for long.

The battle of ascension is not designed to be a fight to the death. However deaths have happened in the ascension battles. That decision is pretty much left up to the combatants.

The BattleLords are the Land Barons of Ashtaroth. It is their responsibility to see that the lands are safe from enemy incursion and to seize and hold new lands in order to give increase to the holdings of The OverSeer.

It is Forbidden for a BattleLord to seek more lands from neighboring provinces or a realm participating in the Ashtaroth Alliance.

Each province provides a vital defensive resource. It was the will of The OverSeer that no one province provide all the necessary defense capability to the kingdom. In a war, the conqueror need only defeat the province housing the defense capability of the realm.

All provinces provide agricultural and industrial needs as required and possible. There is free trade between the provinces and realms participating in the Ashtaroth Alliance.

The other ruling members of the council are the DragonMaster, the DungeonMaster and the CatMaster.
