Who is the best leader of the X-Men? And why?
I was reading your responses and I have to say that although I may go it alone - Cyclops is as Bishop said "The X-Men's greatest Leader". It has always been that way and it will always be that way. Cyclops is not prone to making emotional judgements, and in a pressure situation he has shown that he is willing to make the hard decisions. It was he who opened fire among the X-Men on Dark Phoneix on the moon, it was Cyclops who chose to give up his child to send into the future to save him and it was Cyclops who opened fire on the man who was his father in more ways then i can count (Xavier as Onslaught), as he realised that the evil must be stopped. It is undeniable that Cyclops comes with a great deal of emotional baggage, but he is the greatest leader the X-Men have ever had. Storm is a good leader, as is Nightcrawler and even Cannonball and Cable, yet to me, they are all that step behind the X-Men's one true leader: CYCLOPS. -The Watcher Personally I think Nightcrawler should become the temas leader when and if he returns from Excalibur. He doesn't have any inner turmoil like Storm and he has proven himself time and again to be a stable, capable leader with his presence in Excalibur. Storm has just lost his leadership ability for the moment and thus would just make rash judgements. As has Storm already. -Gregor I definitely think Storm is a much better leader than Scott. She basically doesn't have much of a life outside of that of the team. She is very good at not letting her emotions get in the way of her duty for the team. She even so much as stayed with the X-Men even though she had no powers during her pathetic punk rock era. And if we take a look at Cyclops, he's bogged down with three children (whom he hasn't payed child support for), a dead wife Madelyne Pryor (who's now French kissing his son from another timeline after he thought her into existance) and a wife (whom he thought died on the moon but was really the Phoenix entity itself portraying Jean while she was in a cuccoon at the bottom of the ocean, then Jean comes back into the picture and the two get hitched after a while of getting to know each other again.) Now, tell me, what sane man could actually lead a team of mutant freaks after having to endure all of that? :-) -Rahsas (TBM) Cyclops has proven himself to be an exceptional leader, but Storm gives it new meaning. She's serious about the job, but doesn't take it over the edge like Cyclops. She's more calm and cool in a fight, and it's nice to see her in charge. -Havoc1 This is about the X-Men leader. I think Storm is the best because she is (pardon the pun) more down to earth than the others. She also has this grim determination about her when she knows she has to do smething and it's what I greatly admire in her. With the addition of Marrow to the team, Storm has become more whiny but I'm praying that it's only temporary. -Shockwave Although Cyclops has had his moments (has he?), Storm is clearly the only true leader of the X-Men. Above all she has dedicated her life to the team, whereas Scott has had time for marriages, a kid, and lots else that has all come at the team's expense. She's also a superior strategist, better fighter, and much sneakier. Oh and she's got that oh-so-exotic appeal that no one can resist! What else could you ask for in a leader? -Silver Okay... as I quote... Logan said Storm's "got what it takes...Scott doesn't any more"... Storm beat Scott for leadership... wthout her powers... which proves that she isn't dependant on her powers and that she's not helpless... She's also more intouch with the team's feelings... when have you seen Scott having a heart to heart with anyone..except Jean (spit)? -Nemesis
