Although
it is possible to follow along with the Bohavia campaign by checking
the story as it develops, this method only
allows you to see half of the story. What you're missing when you
follow the game in this way is the interaction between the players
that makes the difference between simply watching a book being
written and watching an immersive role playing game being played. By
lurking, you will get the full picture of the game, which is not
possible to give you from just the DM's postings that make up the
content of the story
pages.
Another
adavantage of lurking in the campaign is that , if you are new to
PBeM's, it gives you an idea as to how they work in practice. Note,
however, that the amount of interaction and the pace of the game is a
lot higher than in an average PBeM. For more information about PBeM's
in general if you are new to the whole concept, check out the
PBeM
Advice
section.
Thanks
to the wonderful people running The
Phoenyx, becoming a
lurker in the Bohavia campaign is simplicity itself. All you have to
do is the following:
Send an
e-mail to the following address:
bohavia-on@phoenyx.net
In other
words just hit your Send button after you click on the above link.
You don't need to put anything else in the message at all.
That's
all there is to it. I told you it was simple! Within just a few
minutes, you will be added to the mailing list for the campaign and
will start to receive all of the DM's and players postings as they
are sent.
A word
of warning before you rush off and subscribe to the mailing list. The
Bohavia campaign is a VERY
busy game, which can sometimes generate 30 or more postings in a day.
If don't want to receive that much mail on a regular basis, then I
recommend you find another game to lurk in. In this case, a great
place to go is The
Phoenyx. Apart from
hosting the Bohavia site, they also host a number of other games,
some for AD&D and some based upon a number of other systems. The
majority of these games are a lot less active than Bohavia, and thus
easier to follow. They are all subscribed to in a similar way to the
one that I have described above. Go to their site for more
information.
If you
have any more questions about lurking after reading this page, then
please don't hesitate to mail
the DM. He loves to
receive any kind of feedback.
