. The executive board agreed last January to adopt six goals for the January-June term. How did we do? I've listed each goal along with our result below.
Let's take a look.

GOAL STATUS

  • Gain seven (7) new members.
Achieved 8: Paul Schneider, Lori Weldon, Mary Terrazas, Maya DeVila, Erich Hermanns, Don Lewis, Jim McDonald, and Heidi Kasner. Four of these new members are incoming club officers.
  • Focus attention improving on Introductions
Accomplished. The Table Topics portion of an April meeting was devoted to the T.I.S. introduction method.
  • Retain current membership:
Went inactive: Paul Schneider, Galina Polischuk, Donna Doss, and Paddy Ramsay.
  • Achieve 80% weekly member attendance.
Status: The end of year average attendance of 19 has improved during the past six months to 22. (80% of 30 is 24)
  • Video tape Table Topics.
Status: Moved to next six months.
  • Provide written evaluations to the Toastmaster.
    Status: we'll continue to encourage
    members to evaluate the Toastmasters.
  • Proposed Goals for
    July 1 - Dec. 31, 1997

  • To gain eight (8) new members. Have a membership drive encouraging members to consistently promote Toastmasters.
  • Promote creativity for meetings by Toastmasters, table topic masters, themes for meetings, etc.
  • Achieve 80% weekly member attendance.
  • Create new ballots.
  • Implement a cliche report by the "Ah counter" on a consistent basis! Explain what cliches are and give examples. Have "ah" counter "ring the bell" when a cliche is uttered (except during formal speeches). Charge 5¢ an "ah."

  • Have five (5) members achieve their CTM and two (2) members achieve the ATM designation.
  • Sponsor a Speechcraft.
  • Facilitate two (2) Youth Leadership programs.
  • Have an auction to build up the treasury.
  • Have full membership participation in the fall speech contests.

  • Video tape table topics for four meetings and view at the annual Christmas Party.

  • New Officers outline plans for Fall Term
Objectives discussed to maintain healthy club
    membership and operation.

The last meeting in June was devoted to a panel of the newly installed officers
and a presentation of their ideas and objectives for the coming term.

The newly installed officers participated in a panel lead by President
Connie Kadansky,CTM, to discuss their proposed goals for the fall term.

Connie Kadansky's proposed goals as president are outlined above.
The ideas offered in Thursday's presentation focused on these
    major points:

    Education: Maya DeVila

    • To talk with each member and find out what their Communication & Leadership goals are and where they are in the program.
    • Start an Educational Committee
    • Meet the Distinguished Club Plan goals

    Membership: Brendan Kennedy

    • Contact all visitors
    • Start a Valley TM Speakers Bureau
    • Increase membership attendance
    • Seek a commitment from each member to bring one guest during the next six months.

    Public Relations, Lori Weldon

    • To get word out about Valley Toastmasters and build our membership
    • To visit other TM groups for ideas
    • To gain new members and keep current members.
Motivate interest and participation in the weekly meetings
    • To organize "outside events" which would allow members "fun time" together.
    • To gain public recognition for Valley which hopefully will lead to outside speaking engagements. Getting coverage in the media is essential. Create a media list to target our audience
    • Upcoming events: Bowling Party & Ice cream Social. "TM Mixer" with other TM groups.

    Treasurer: Tim Ducar

    • To continue the prompt and organized performance demonstrated by the previous treasurer (Jackie Weaver, ATM).

    Sergeant at Arms: Jerry Kadansky

    • Experiment with the meeting room set-up to add a variety of challenging learning environments for weekly speakers and leaders.
    • To reduce the ice machine noise factor by accepting responsibility of providing that function before the meeting begins.
