Steve746's Cabbage Salad with Feta and Pecans
1 cup pecan pieces 1/2 cup vegetable oil
6 cups each red and green cabbage 1/2 cup parsley coarsely chopped
1/4cup white wine vinegar 4 cloves minced garlic
2 tsp. sugar 1/2 tsp dry mustard
1 red onion thinly sliced 1 cup feta cheese, crumbled
salt and pepper
Toss pecans with 2 tsp. oil. Spread out on a baking sheet; sprinkle with salt and pepper, and rosst at 350 F for 5 minute. set aside to cool!!!
In a large bowl toss together cabbage and parsley. In a small saucepan heat remaining oil, vinegar, garlic, sugar, 1/2 tsp. each of salt and pepper and dry mustard. Cook over medium heat, stirring until sugar and mustard dissolve. Add onion to dressing after saute for 30 seconds.
Pour dressing over cabbage mixture and toss to coat. Taste and add more salt and pepper if needed. Transfer to serving bowl or platter, sprinklw with roasted pecans and feta cheese. Serves 12-15 people.
Oldwomaninashoe and Kingoftheshoe's Broccoli and Cauliflower Salad
1 bunch of broccoli 1 head of cauliflower
1 cup sour cream 1 cup mayonnaise
1/4 cup sugar 2 Tbsp. Vinegar
Dash of worcestershire sauce 1 lb of bacon (or substitute bacon bits)
Shredded cheddar cheese 2 or 3 green onions
Chop broccoli, cauliflower, and green onions and place in a salad bowl. In a separate bowl combine sour cream, mayonnaise, sugar, vinegar, and worcestershire sauce. Pour over the vegetables, mixing to make sure the vegetables are covered well. Sprinkle top with cheddar cheese and then bacon. Chill for about 1 hour.
This is a must try! King says this is something that you'll just love and will always want to fix!
Cinnamongirll's Green Bay Packers Tailgater's Coleslaw
1 Pkg. Ramon Noodle Soup Mix, Oriental Flavor
8 oz. Fresh Cole Slaw Mix 1/3 cup Canola Oil
1/2 cup vinegar 1 pkg. Sunflower Seeds
Mix all together except Sunflower Seeds. Let set covered in the fridge at least 1-2 hours. Add Sunflower Seeds just prior to serving. Note: You can add more vinegar if a stronger taste is preferred....
Abbyhill's Pea Salad
1 pkg. frozen peas (thawed) 1 cup sour cream
1 cup chopped celery 1/2-1 cup chopped onions
Mix the above the night before and refrigerate.
IMMEDIATELY before serving, stir in:
1/2-1 cup cashews
Bacon bits--Grandma used to cook an entire pound of bacon, crumple it up and put it in the salad--I use about half a jar of Hormel bacon bits.
This recipe easily doubles for large crowds. ENJOY!!!
