Review by VideoHound's Soundtracks:Dr. John's delightfully wicked rendition of the song "Cruella De Vil" sets the tone for this inspired live-action remake of the Disney animated feature, with Michael Kamen taking his cue from the storyline to deliver a score that's right on the button.
While one might have wondered whatever prompted the powers-that-be at Disney to remake one of their most successful films, one can't dispute the fact that they were right in hiring Kamen to write the score. His music is constantly innovative and amusing, appropriately matching the grander-than-life elements in the film, while adding the right touch to its more down-to-earth aspects. Particularly welcome here is the sentimental "Going to Have A Puppy" with its sarcastic downside "I Adore Puppies," and the heroic "Rescue," brimming with great action tonalities.
