The Judge stands before the door

James 5:1-10

1 ¶Go to now , [ye] rich men, weep and howl for your miseries that shall come upon [you] .

When shall miseries come upon the rich in worldly wealth who are poor in heavenly wealth? At the 2nd Coming

2 Your riches are corrupted, and your garments are motheaten.{1}

They have spent their efforts on hording treasures on earth and have not accumulated any treasure in heaven, thus they will have no reward at the 2nd Coming and their worldy wealth (the type) will be consumed by fire.

3 Your gold and silver is cankered {2} ; and the rust of them shall be a witness against you{3} , and shall eat your flesh as it were fire{4} . Ye have heaped treasure together for the last days{5} .

4 Behold , the hire of the labourers who have reaped down your fields, which is of you kept back by fraud, crieth: and the cries of them which have reaped are entered into the ears of the Lord{6} of sabaoth{7} .

5 Ye have lived in pleasure on the earth, and been wanton; ye have nourished your hearts, as in a day of slaughter{8} .

6 Ye have condemned [and] killed the just; [and] he doth not resist you.{9}

7 Be patient therefore, brethren, unto the coming of the Lord{10} . Behold , the husbandman waiteth for the precious fruit of the earth{11} , and hath long patience for it, until he receive the early and latter rain.

8 Be ye also patient ; stablish your hearts{12} : for the coming of the Lord draweth nigh .

9 Grudge not one against another, brethren, lest ye be condemned: behold , the judge{13} standeth before the door.

10 Take, my brethren, the prophets, who have spoken in the name of the Lord, for an example of suffering affliction, and of patience.

Notice how many times we are told to be patient and endure suffering until the Lord returns. This goes against the pre trib rapture mentality that tells us that we will be whisked away before any serious persecution to believers comes. If this were really true, why would James tell us over and over to be patient and endure suffering until the Lord returns?

11 Behold , we count them happy which endure{14} . Ye have heard of the patience of Job, and have seen the end of the Lord; that the Lord is very pitiful, and of tender mercy.{15}

Key points to understand when reading these verses are:
The glory of our resurrection will be determined by what we have done. Those who have done evil will be consumed by fire. Those who have done good will be purified and refined and their rewards will come forth as gold and precious stones.

The main typological code words that unlocked these passages for me were
worldly wealth - the type because it passes away and is destroyed
heavenly wealth - the antitype because it endures forever

Heavenly wealth is bestowed starting at the 2nd Coming when Jesus will reward each of us according to what we have done.
