(When I was cleaning out the cabinets under our bedroom bookshelves the other day, I came across this little writing exercise that I used to do with my students. YOU CAN DO THIS, TOO! Pick out three things that are important to you. Then give three or more reasons why they are important!)



The important thing about love is... 
It makes you feel special.
Love makes you feel warm.
It is something you can share
With your spouse, your child, your parent, or friend.
But the most important thing about love is
It makes you feel special.




The important thing about hope is...
It keeps you going when times are bad.
It gives you a brighter picture of life,
It allows you to believe in a better time,
And it keeps your dreams alive.
But the most important thing about hope is
It keeps you going when times are bad.




The important thing about music is...
It fills your soul with sounds and images.
If it is fast, it can make you move more quickly.
If it is slow, it can relax your mind and body.
You can sing along to music, you can dance to it,
And you can snap your fingers and shake your head.
It can take you back to a special time,
Or it can take you places you have never been.
But the most important thing about music is
It fills your soul with sounds and images.
