PINJARRA, WA
Pinjarra is located 86 K (53 miles) south of Perth. It is home to Alcoa of Australia. It is here that alumina is processed into aluminium. Alcoa is one of WA's leading industries and not only focus's its attention on alumina mining and processing, but is also concerned with land reclaimation, environmental safety, and research in plant biology. There are great stands of Australian Blue Gum that have been planted and maintained by Alcoa on their property. On one of my return trips from Perth I made a side trip up to the Alcoa plant and lookout where I got some great photos that I will share with you now.
Just southeast of Pinjarra is the town of Dwellingup. Some really good friends took me there to see the Murray River a few days before I left. It was really beautiful as you will see in the photos below. We spent the day swimming and enjoying the "Spa", a small opening in the rock formations that allows a small waterfall to fall into a deep hole. We climbed down into it and just sat there in this natural spa of bubbling water. It was fantastic. Truely one of the most beautiful places on earth.
