My mothers' parents, William Leon Calahan and Geraldine Vogel
(Mammaw & Pappaw)
When I was a child I would spend a month each summer with them in Lawton,
Oklahoma. My Grandpa Calahan, was the sweetest man. He would bounce me on his
knee and talk to me in his baby voice. He was a big man who was never
afraid to tell me how much he loved me. He was a deacon at First Baptist
Church in Lawton. As I grew older I even got to hear some of his jokes.
Boy, did he love tellin his jokes(some were even funny).hehe. . .
My Grandma was on the Fletcher basketball team; She was All-State Center.
Above (sitting, 2nd from right) is my Grandma from 1926. Below (back, far right)
is my Grandma from 1927.
Grandma Calahan is the strongest woman that I have ever known. She just
turned 88 years old and she is my only living grandparent. She is healthy
as a horse, and brutally honest, with everyone. She spoiled me with love and
attention. My father would get pretty ticked when I would stand at the door
and cry when she would leave. I love her so much.
From left is Uncle Gene, Grandpa(Leon), my mom Pat, Grandma
(Geraldine), & Aunt Sue.
This is a picture of my grandparents with all of their grandkids. I am the
youngest grandkid by an eight year difference between me and my brother Tony.
